On 1st February this year, in Brussels Minister of Transport, Building and Maritime Economy Sławomir Nowak and Minister of Regional Development Elżbieta Bieńkowska met with European Commissioner responsible for regional policy Johannes Hahn.

On 6 February this year, in the seat of the Ministry, Sławomir Nowak, the Minister of Transport, Construction and Maritime Economy, met with Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri, the Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates. They discussed Polish-Emirati cooperation in the area of sea and air transport. The topics included potential investments in Polish sea ports in Szczecin, Świnoujście and Gdańsk, and possible cooperation between the maritime administrations of Poland and the UAE. The ministers also talked about commencing works on an inter-government agreement on sea transport and cooperation regarding investments in airport infrastructure.

- The primary aim, which eventually we would like to fulfil, is to limit the number of victims on the road to zero. Our target by the year 2020 is to reduce the number of deaths by half and the number of injuries by 40% - a statement on the 9th of January of this year by the Minister of Transport, Construction and Maritime Trade - Sławomir Nowak, in the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, during a joint conference with the Internal Affairs Minister Jacek Cichocki. Minister Sławomir Nowak added that, together with Minister Jacek Cichocki, he is working on establishing a the National Road Safety Program (NPBRD) 2013-2020, which was brought into effect yesterday by the National Council of Road Traffic Safety. The special guest at the conference and participant in the program’s project review was Kate McMahon – an independent road traffic safety expert, cooperating, amongst other things, with the World Bank; she was previously head of the Road Traffic Safety Division in the UK Department for Transport.

On 20th December of the current year in the Voivodship Office building in Szczecin, the Minister of Transport, Construction and Maritime Economy, Sławomir Nowak, and Peter Raumsauer, German Minister of Transport, Construction and Urban Development, signed an Agreement for cooperation on developing the new Szczecin-Berlin railroad connection.

The meeting of Transport, Telecommunications and Energy Council of the European Union held in Brussels on 20th December 2012 was attended by Maciej Jankowski, Deputy Secretary of State in the Ministry of Transport, Construction and Maritime Economy.

“We have discussed specific issues concerning the removal of trade barriers after Russia’s accession to the World Trade Organisation. There is progress in the liberalisation of trade. The Polish sales to Russia have been growing; there is also an increase in economic cooperation between Poland and Russia. But, together with the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation, we share the opinion that our ambitions go even beyond that dynamic growth. As big neighbours, Poland and Russia should improve their cooperation particularly in the business area” – said the Minister of Transport, Construction and Maritime Economy Sławomir Nowak after the meeting of the Polish-Russian Intergovernmental Committee for Economic Cooperation.

On Wednesday, 14 November Minister of Transport, Construction and Maritime Economy Sławomir Nowak with the Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk took part in the Polish-German intergovernmental consultations in Berlin.

On 5 November 2012 in Poznan the press briefing of Minister Transport, Construction and Maritime Economy Sławomir Nowak placed on road projects in Wielkopolska. During briefing, Minister Sławomir Nowak informed that the Poznan branch of GDDKiA announced a tender for the construction of the last, over a 5-km section of the Western Ring Road Poznan over the expressway S11. The project funded by the NRF should be completed in the autumn of 2014.

Undersecretaries of State at the Ministry of Transport, Construction and Maritime Economy Andrzej Massel and Maciej Jankowski met on 5 October 2012 with Commissioner for Regional Policy Johannes Hahn. The discussion, held at the Ministry of Transport, Construction and Maritime Economy, followed meetings earlier with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Minister of Regional Development Elżbieta Bieńkowska.
